Daniel Minter is an acclaimed artist living in
Maine, but he was born and raised in
Ellaville. He designed a Kwanzaa stamp in
2004 and it was the inspiration for the Stamp
Mural.
Dr Boyette was a beloved physican to the
community for many years. The design of
his stamp was commissioned by Dr. Harold
Holloway, who spoke at the Dedication, and
was the first baby to be delivered by Dr.
Boyette in 1935.
Napoleon Aldridge, Jr. is remembered by the
community as a 'principled man of God'. His
daughter, Helen Aldridge Stewart,
commissioned the design of this stamp and
spoke of her father at the Dedication. She
talked about the many principals that he lived
by, and the list just went on and on.
Endine Hart was the first woman to sit on a Schley
County jury and the first woman on the Ellaville
City Council. She was Postmistress for 24 of the
31 years she worked at the Post Office in Ellaville.
Her family commissioned the design of her
Postcard, and her niece, Margaret McMickle
Gooding, spoke at the dedication.
Here is the whole wall for those of you who don't see it every time you go to our grocery store!
And here I am sitting on the scaffolding on one of the hottest summers in memory! I couldn't have
done it without my sun tarp! My cousin Bob helped me too - and all of the people who stopped by
to talk about their memories of the Doctor, and Napoleon, and Endine.
I want to thank everyone who supported me in any way. I really appreciate my community and
enjoy being a part of it. I want to thank Brenda Burns, of the Friends of the Rylander, for her help
with the Grassroots Arts Program grant.
We purchased Jack and Jill, our 'almost' miniature
donkeys, in May of 2008. We were not planning to breed
them but before we had him gelded in December, they
took it upon themselves to add this adorable baby to our
stock!
We asked our granddaughter, Skylar, who just turned
seven on September 3rd, to name the baby, who was
born on the 5th of September. She chose Anna, which
really suits her!
Michael and Kim and the grandchildren,
Skylar and Luke, visited us in August.
As you can see, they enjoyed playing in the
Georgia sand!
