January Page 2008
This is the first of a monthly news page to let you know what I am working on and to keep in touch!

January 6, 2008    We have had some mighty cold weather but the past few days have been nice.
Ken and I went mule-back riding today.   I have a couple of exciting projects in the works and am
currently working on an old bow-front dresser.  It will be totally painted with an abstract design with
elephants as the subjects!  The dresser was in pretty poor shape, I had to remove all of the veneer.
But it will be totally transformed when I am finished and promises to be a really nice addition to the
customer's home.
This is a wall treatment I have completed in Jummy Fulk's spec
house in Meadow Woods subdivision - yes, we have a few in
Schley County!  I applied a layer of plaster material to the
space between the kitchen counters and the upper cabinets
and incised leaves into the plaster.  Then I colored them.  The
surface of the plaster is textured and very interesting.  The rest
of the kitchen is painted the beautiful Benjamin Moore red -
naturally from Kevin at Crook's Paint Center in Americus.
I will update when the kitchen in finished - the countertops will
be white.
Well, the skin and bones horse we rescued in mid summer fattened
up and we found about 50 people wanting to adopt her!  We settled
for the second caller who was a grandfather wanting her for his 8
year old grand daughter, Marion.  She asked me right off the bat if
Bones had any bad habits!  (She also renamed Bones to Beauty)  I
am sure all 50 of the callers would have given Bones a good home
but I was real happy with Marion and her Grandpa, John Faulks,
from Jeffersonville, Georgia.
Here is Mitzi's tall dresser, sans the hardware, yet to be put back on.
The patterns for the stencils were taken from her new comforter.  I
have never actually used a stencil but the designs were real stencils,
so that's the way I went.  There is a dressing table and bench, an oval
mirror, and a nite stand, too.
I just finished this painting of the C. H. Burt Store
in LaCrosse, Schley County, Georgia.  This is a
copy of an old photograph, commissioned by the
great, great grandson of Mr Burt.
I am having a hard time moving photos from my
software to this site - lots of them show up as
negatives!  So this shot isn't cropped and you
get the background - oh well.
