Newspage for June and July 2008
A dry and hot Summer!
You are probably wondering what "Sewalk Cinema"
could possibly be!  My supervisors, the guys and
girls at Planters Hardware, across the street,
weren't doing their job!!  I
just left two little letters
out - the "ID" in SIDEWALK !
This job on the exterior of "Amelia's" was a
Grassroots Arts Program Grant from Georgia
Council of the Arts.  We had our first showing at the
Sidewalk Cinema on July 5th - "RV" with Robin
Williams.  The second show will be on August 2nd -
"August Rush", with a local talent show to precede
the movie.
It was a hot job, but
so much fun to work on
something that is going to be such a wonderful
asset to our community!
Ken on his beautiful molly mule, Sarah!
She is always in seventh heaven when he rides
her - first, she gets to go outside the pasture and
explore, and second, she gets to please her
master!
Here is a shot I took during the first Sidewalk Cinema showing on
7July 5th.
You have to bring your own chair!  You can see
that the quality of the picture is great!
Here is one of the brave
men of Schley County
trying to spit a
watermelon seed further
than anyone else!  No,
he didn't win the contest.
Next year, I promise to
have the old-fashioned,
larger seeds for the
spitting  contests.
Here's a sign I designed for Freddie Perry.
Freddie is going to have a great location when
the new US 19 passes through the back of his
farm.  He is going to build a new stand and will
have signs like this one out on the new highway.
We are going to have a white marquee
here so we can put up magnetic letters
announcing upcoming movies and
shows.
Here is the screen - and here is Lee Pilcher working on some trim
for the interior of Amelia's - The space is available for inside events
of all kinds and is complete with a kitchen.
Linda in her Pith Helmet equipped with a fan!
I love designing and painting signs!  Marnie
Eason took over this business and renamed
it "GetaTan".
She has her monograming machine in the
back.  The building is on East Oglethorpe in
downtown Ellaville between Deborah Poole's
Town and Country Realty and the Chamber
of Commerce office.
Couldn't resist putting in a couple of beautiful shots of
sky.
Well, that's it for June and July - We are finally getting
some rain.
My next project is the completion of the Andersonville
Arch soldier cutouts.  I have one completed and the
second one ready to cut.  They are 8' tall and will
have flags on top of that so they will be impressive!
